15. To find the x intercepts set the above to 0 and factor
x^2 - 4x - 32 = 0
(x - 8) ( x + 4) = 0
Setting each factor to 0 and solving for x we have that
x - 8 = 0 and x + 4 = 0
x = 8 x = -4
So...the x intercepts (roots) are x = 8 and x = -8
16. the discriminant is
(-4)^2 - 4 (1) (-32)
16 + 128
144
When the discriminant is > 0.....we will have two real roots
