in order to solve for x just pretend 3y doesn't exist. block it out. then you just have 2x=6. from there it's a simple one-step equation. x=3

 

for F you would first add three making the equation Fm=Q+3 then divide by M making the equation F=Q+3 over M

Subtract 3 from both sides

 

2x  = 6 -  3y      divide both sides by 2

 

x  =  [ 6 -  3y ]  / 2

 

 

 

Fm-3=Q (for F)   →      F  =   [Q + 3] / m
