Person has a bag that holds only green and red marbles. The ratio of green to red marbles is 2/5. If person add 4 green marbles and take away 10 red marbles, there will be twice as many green marbles as red marbles in the bag. How many marbles were in her original bag? The question says 2 equations

This is the closest answer I got.

Suppose x is the common factor of the ratio, so

green marbles = 2x

red marbles = 5x

Equation:

2(2x+4) = 5x-10

    4x+8 = 5x-10

    8+10 = 5x-4x

 18 = x

 

 red = 90

green = 36
