how do u simplify \(\sqrt{500}\)

\(\sqrt{500}\)

You have to look for a square number that goes into 500.  Any squar number will help but if your find the biggest one it will be quicker to get to the final answer.

These are square numbers

1,4,9,16,25,36 ......                 but 1 won't help.

The biggest squared number that goes into 500 is 100  (10*10=100) so this is  what you do.

\(\sqrt{500}=\sqrt{100*5}=\sqrt{100}*\sqrt5=10\sqrt5\)
