6a   The volume will consist of that of a cylinder with a height of   17m   and a radius of (22 - 17)  = 5m plus the volume of a hemisphere  with a radius of 5m.....so we have

pi * (5^2) * 17   +   (2/3)pi * 5^3  =  about 1596.98  m^3

The surface area of the two objects  =

2pi (5)(17)   + 2pi *5^2   =  about 691.15 m^2

6b   We have a rectangular solid and a cone........the volume  =

7*5*9   +  pi (2^2)*6/3  = about  340.13 cm^3

The surface area  =

2 [5*9  + 9*7 + 5*7]  +  pi *(2)sqrt(6^2 + 2^2)   =   286 + 39.74  = about 325.74 cm^2
