In parallelogram  PQRS, the measure of angle P  is five times the measure of angle  Q. What is the measure of angle R , in degrees?

Sum of angles in a parallelogram = 360 degrees

Opposite angles are =    so p = r

   and  P = 5Q

All of the angles added together = 360 degrees

5Q +Q   +  5Q + Q = 360    Solve for Q

12Q = 360     Q = 30 degrees

then P = 5Q = 5(30) = 150 degrees        and   P = R     so R = 150 degrees

Consecutive angles of a parallelogram sum to 180°

Let  P  = 5Q

So

5Q + Q  = 180°

6Q = 180

Q = 30°

So P = 5Q  = 5(30)  = 150°

And opposite angles are equal....so......P = R = 150°
