Suppose that f is a polynomial such that (x−1)⋅f(x)=3x4+x3−25x2+38x−17. What is the degree of f?
Because x - 1 is of first degree, f(x) must be one degree less than the degree of the polynomial on the RHS. i.e. f is of degree 3.
