how do i find the sum of a polynomial in standard form?

specifically (x^2-4x+3) + (3x^2-3x-5)

(x^2-4x+3) + (3x^2-3x-5)

 

Line these up  like this :

 

       x^2   -  4x     +  3

+   [3x^2  -  3x    -    5 ]        Now, add as you normally would

 

4x ^2    -   7x     -   2          and that's your result
