Find the remainder when g(x) = 5x^9 - 4x^2 +2 is divided by 5x+10.

5x + 10  = 0

5(x + 2)  =  0

x + 2  =  0

x  =  -2

 

Using the Remainder Theorem

 

5(-2)^9   - 4(-2)^2  +  2   =

 

-2560  -  16   +   2   =

 

-2574    =  the remainder
