Write an equation of the form f(x)=a^x+b
with these two points: (-2,-2) and (-1,-4) PLEASE HELP
Find the equation f(x) = ax + b
For (-2,-2) ---> -2 = a-2 + b ---> -2 - a-2 = b
For (-1,-4) ---> -4 = a-1 + b ---> -4 - a-1 = b
Setting these two equation equal to each other: -2 - a-2 = -4 - a-1
2 + a-2 = 4 + a-1
Multiplying by a2: 2a2 + 1 = 4a2 + a
0 = 2a2 + a - 1
0 = (2a - 1)(a + 1)
So, either a = ½ or a = -1.
If a = ½ ---> -4 = a-1 + b ---> -4 = (½)-1 + b ---> -4 = 2 + b ---> b = -6
---> f(x) = ½x - 6
If a = -1 ---> -4 = (-1)-1 + b ---> -4 = -1 + b ---> b = -3
---> f(x) = (-1)x - 3 [Note that "-1" must be in parentheses; this may eliminate it from being
a posible answer.]
