We can write the ratio as |x - 3|/((x - 3)(x + 3))
As x → 3 from above |x - 3| is just x - 3 , so the ratio becomes 1/(x + 3) or 1/6
As x → 3 from below |x - 3| is 3 - x, so the ratio becomes -1/(x + 3) or -1/6
