Let u and v be real numbers such that

u^3 - 3uv^2 &= 259,

3u^2 v - v^3 &= -286.

Find u^2+v^2

There are MANY solutions to your question, most of them "complex". There are also some real solutions, one of which is:  u = 7  and v = - 2

u^2  +  v^2 = 53
