-1x)
Draw a right angled triangle.
put theta in one of the acute angles.
Now let
Θ = sec
-1x
this means that
sec Θ = x/1 = 1/ cos Θ
∴ cos Θ = 1 / x
So put 1 on the adjacent side and x on the hypotenuse
Use Pythagoras Theorem to find the third side.
Now read cot Θ straight off your triangle.
