Well there's always guess and check, but that's time consuming. The way that works for me up to 151 is if it looks gross then it's likely one, but that's just me. There's an equation to find any starting at one, but I don't remember it. My recomendation to you is to just divide by all numders 1-9 and if they all turn up as a decimal or fraction then it's prime.

You divide the number by ALL primes <= sqrt of the number in question: is 97 a prime?

Sqrt(97)=~10. Then you divide 97 by ALL primes < 10. In other words, you try and divide 97 by:

2, 3, 7. Since it doesn't divide any of these 3 numbers EVENLY, then it is a prime.
