If there are 7 males and 7 females who all want to be on a committee of 3, what is the probability that exactly two are male?

The total number of possible committies  = C(14,3)  = 364

And we want to choose any 1 of the 7 females and any 2 of the 7 males....so we have...

C(7,1) * C(7,2)   = 147

So...the probability  =    147 / 364  = 147/364 =  21/ 52  0.4038 ≈  40.38%

cool cool cool
