Hi

Does anyone know the answer to the following?

Q) If I played 4 games of cards and I had a 65% chance of winning each time, what are the chances of me losing all 4?

The chance of losing the first is 35% or 0.35.

The chance of losing the first and the second is 0.35*0.35

The chance of losing the first and the second and the third is 0.35*0.35*0.35

The chance of losing the first and the second and the third and the fourth is 0.35*0.35*0.35*0.35

 

$${{\mathtt{0.35}}}^{{\mathtt{4}}} = {\mathtt{0.015\: \!006\: \!25}}$$

 

So, overall the chance of losing all four is approximately 0.015 or 1.5%

.
