If two distinct members of the set\{ 2, 4, 12, 14, 21, 28, 98 \} are randomly selected and multiplied, what is the probability that the product is a multiple of 16? Express your answer as a common fraction.

The  number of   possible products   = 21

 

Those that are multiples of 16   are

 

4 *12  =   (4 * 4 * 3)  = 16 *3

4 * 28 =   (4 * 4 ( 7)  =  16 * 7

12* 28  =  (4 * 3) ( 4 * 7)  = 16 * 21

 

P (multiple of 16)   = 3  / 21   =   1 /  7
