A skateboarder rolls off a horizontal ledge that is 1.32 m high, and lands 1.88 m from the base of the ledge. What is the initial velocity?
I'm not great at Physics questions, but I'll give this one a try....
We first need to calculate the time it takes the skateboarder to hit the ground......
-1.32 = -4.9t^2 divide both sides by -4.9
1.32/4.9 = t^2 take the positive root of each side
t ≈ .52s
Then......Distance = Rate * Time → Distance / Time = Rate.......so....
1.88m / .52s ≈ 3.62 m/s
