Suppose that $\alpha$ is inversely proportional to $\beta$. If $\alpha = -3$ when $\beta = 8$, find $\alpha$ when $\beta = 16$. Express your answer as a fraction.

when 2 things are inversely proportional, when one gets larger the other decreases by the same amount. So for your case, beta multiplied by 2, so alpha must decrease by the SAME amount, which is 2, so alpha must be divided by 2 as well, so it is -3/2.
