The length of the hypotenuse of a right triangle is the square root of 18 and one leg measures 4. What is the length of the other leg?

Pythagorean Theorem:

a^2 + b^2 = c^2      a and b are the 'sides' and c= hypotenuese

 

4^2 + b^2 = (sqrt18)^2

16 + b^2 = 18

b^2 = 2

b = sqrt(2)
