The roots of the quadratic x^2+8x+4 are the same as the roots of the quadratic Ax^2+Bx+1. What is A + B?
A + B = 1/2 + 4 = 9/2.
That is incorrect. Try to explain how you got 1/2 and 4.
We will divide all of these by 4..
1/4x^2+2x+1
A=1/4
B=2
So, A+B=2.25.
Yep! That's the same answer that I got. Good job!
Hmm...
I think what Guest meant to do was divide the first quadratic by 4, which gets us
\(\frac{1}{4}x^2+2x+1\)
a=1/4
b=2
So add them up and get
1/4+2=9/4, or 2.25
