If the roots of the quadratic equation 1/2*x^2 + 99x + c = 0 are \(-99 - \sqrt{9577}\) and \(-99 + \sqrt{9577}\), then what is the value of c?

(1/2)x^2  +  99x  + c  =  0

We have the form     ax^2 + bx + c  = 0

The product of the roots =  c / a

So

[-99 -sqrt (9577) ]  * [ -99 + sqrt (9577) ]  =    c / (1/2)

9801 - 9577  =  c / (1/2)

224 = c / (1/2)

224 (1/2)  =   c   =    112
