Using Omi's diagram  and the exterior angle theorem, we have that

y  = x + 48      (1)

z   = y + x        (2)

Sub  (1)  into ( 2) for y   and we have

z  = ( x + 48 ) + x     

z  = 2x + 48

So..in the triangle on the right  

48 + x + z  = 180

48 + x + (2x + 48) = 180

96 + 3x  = 180

3x  = 180 - 96

3x  = 84

x = 28° =  angle "B"
