To write a piecewise function, we will have two linear equations

One line  will contain the points  (-4, 3.5)  and ( -2, 1.5)   

The slope for this line  is    [ 3.5 - 1.5] / [ -4 - - 2]   =  [2]/ [-2]  =  -1

And the equation for this line is given by :

y =  -1( x - -2)  + 1.5

y = -1x - 2  +  1.5

y = -1x - .5

The other line will contain the points  ( 0, 3.5) and (-2, 1.5)

The slope of this line is   [ 3.5 - 1.5] / [ 0 - - 2]  =  2 / 2  = 1

And the equation of this line is :

y = 1(x - 0) + 3.5

y = x + 3.5

So.... the piecewise function is

          -1x  - .5          -inf < x ≤ - 2

y  = 

            x + 3.5         - 2  <  x  <  inf
