the garibaldi family drove 400 miles in 7 hours.Which is the best estimate of the number of miles they drove in 1 hour?

It depends on your 'estimating ability' ...using your head.....   The distance they drive in ONE hour is 1/7th of the total they drove in 7 hours......you could estimate 50, but using your head you can figure out that is too low.....you could estimate 60, but you could figure in your head that is too much....so it is somewhere in between ....probably closer to 60 than 50....so a better estimate might be 57 miles.   Try putting it into a calculator to see how close your 'estimate is.

Divide miles by hours, which will give you MPH.
