#1**+1 **

( a^{5} · b^{2} ) / ( a^{3} · b^{3} )

cancelling out the a^{3} factor from both the numerator and denominator still leaves a factor of a^{2} in the numerator:

= ( a^{2} · b^{2} ) / ( b^{3} )

cancelling out the b^{2} factor from both the numerator and denominator still leaves a factor of b in the denominator:

= a^{2} / b

where x = 2 and y = 1 ...

so x - y = ???
