Find a simplified formula for 1+3+5...+(2n-3)+(2n-1), write in terms of n.
I dont know where to start here, could someone give me some insight?
Let S=1+3+5+...+(2n-3)+(2n-1)
Then S=(2n-1)+(2n-3)+...+5+3+1
Since S has n terms, and if you add the corresponding terms, the sum is 2n, we have 2S=2n*n, so S=n^2.
