(-1)^n-(1)^n=

 

\((-1)^n-(1)^n= (-1)^n - 1\)

I'll go one step further:

\((-1)^n-(1)^n= (-1)^n - 1 \)

 

If n is even then this is      1-1=0

if n is odd then this is        -1-1=-2
