Hi Selena,

y = ½x – 5

Standard form is     Ax+By=C

Multiply both sides by 3 to get rid of the fraction

2y=2[(1/2)x-5]

2y=x-10

It is always nice to have a positive number in front of the x so I will leave that and add 10 to both sides

2y+10=x

Now I'll swap sides

x=2y+10

now I want the 10 by itself so subtract 2y from both sides

x-2y=10

There is an invisable 1 in front of the x
