If the parent function is , describe the translation of the function y =
– 3
a. Four units to the left and three units down from.
b.Three units to the left and four units up from.
c.Three units to the right and four units up from.
d.Four units to the right and three units down from.
y=3√x+4−3$thisishowIthinkofthese$(y+3)=3√(x+4)
now
solve y+3=0 the answer is y=-3 so got down 3 units
solve x+4=0 the answer is x=-4 so go left 4 units
Notice how I used the brackets. This is important to get the grouping correct.
I do not think everyone thinks of it like this but it works well for me.
