What is  -| -1 2/5 | as a decimal?

As a decimal,  2/5  =   0.4

     --->        -1 2/5  =  -1.4

Finding the absolute value:

              | -1 2/5 |  =  | -1.4 |  =  1.4

The negative sign in front of the absolute value makes the answer  -1.4

In the absolute values bracket, everything become positive :D (Stays positive :DDDD)

|\(\begin{array}{c}\circ\\↑\\\text{^}\\\end{array}\)|<-- That man was positive LOL.

|-1 2/5| = 1 2/5

-|-1 2/5| = -(1 2/5) = -1 2/5

-1 2/5 = -7/5 (division)= -1.4

Same as geno's answer

The answer is -1.4. The way to get to the answer is to first change -1 2/5 to a decimal. Then, find the absolute value of that. After that, you can just change it to a negative.
