Queuing Model:
The Cass Manufacturing Company has a group of six identical machines; each machine operates an average of 20 hours between breakdowns on average. One maintenance operative looks after the machines and takes an average of 2 hours to repair a broken machine.
What's the arrival and service rate?
I am sorry, I do not know.
It seems to me that the repair guy is working on those machines about 12 out of each 22 hours. If the machines are running 24 hour a day that is more than a full time job.
The tech should just be a full time employee. I expect it would be cheaper for the company that way and you would not have to work out this question SO it really would be better for everyone :)
