What are the relative minimum and relative maximum values over the interval [1, 5] for the function shown in the graph?

  • relative minimum =  −14 , relative maximum =−3

  • relative minimum = 1.5, relative maximum =−3

  • relative minimum = 1.5, relative maximum = 4.5

  • relative minimum = −3 , relative maximum =−14

A quadratic function graphed on a coordinate plane. The horizontal x-axis ranges from negative 10 to 10 in increments of 1. The vertical y-axis ranges from negative 20 to 2 in increments of 2. A s-shaped curve with turning points at begin ordered pair 1.727 comma negative 3.018 and begin ordered pair 4.54 comma negative 14.144 is graphed. Moving from left to right, the graph starts at begin ordered pair 0 comma negative 20.752 end ordered pair and increases upto begin ordered pair negative 1.727 comma negative 3.018 end ordered pair. The graph then decreases upto begin ordered pair 4.54 comma negative 14.144 end ordered pair. The graph then increases and passes through horizontal axis at begin ordered pair 6.104 comma 0 end ordered pair and exits the first quadrant.

Thanks!

On the graph...

the low point is located at about   (4.5, -14)    and

the high point is located at about   (1.5, -3)  .

relative minimum   =   y-coordinate of low point   =   -14

relative maximum   =   y-coordinate of high point   =   -3
