The  new roof wil have an area  = (scale factor)^2 * ( old roof area)  =

 

(3)^2  *  (4.8)  =

 

9  * 4.8   =

 

43.2   sq ft

 

[ Think about it like this......each dimension , width and length, is 3 times as large ...so old area  = L * W.....and new area  = 

3L * 3W   =  9(L * W) ]
