The total number of pears eaten by Pete and two of his friends, Tweet and Honk, (during this visit to the pear tree) were in the ratio of 2 : 3 : 5 respectively. If Pete ate 12 less pears than Honk, how many pears did Tweet eat during this time

I got 12 for tweet by:

Peet=p

Tweet=t

Honk=h

T/H=3/5

P/T=2/3

2T=3P

T=3/2P

T=3/5H

then i did substitution

3/2P=3/5H

3P=6/5H

3(H-12)=6/5H

H=20

Which means x=4 and that means Tweet ate 12. Is this correct?

P  T  H

2+3+5 = 10

from 2 to 5  is   2 /10 of the total  and this equals 12

   T  ate 3/10 of the total   which is   18
