"160 mm of snow contains as much water as 15 mm of rain. A town within the artic circle recieves about 4250 mm of snow a year. If the snow had fallen as rain, what would the equivalent rainfall for the year have been?"

160:15 The ratio of snow to rain, or: 160 / 15 =10 2/3 : 1. So that you would have:

[4,250 x 15] / 160 =398.4375 mm of rain equivalent.
