40% of the people at a concert were men and the rest were women. After some men and 24 women left, the ratio of the number of men to women who remained in the concert hall was 3:5. If there were 8,400 people at the concert hall in the end, how many people
left the concert hall?
After some leaving
8,400 total
men to women, 3:5
Men: 3150
Women: 5250
Before
Women: 5274
Men: 3516
Total: 8790
8790-5250=3540
So 3540 people left. :))
Edit:
I subtracted the wrong number.
8790-8,400 = 390 (I subtracted women instead of ttal)
=^._.^=
Just to say I did not submit the previous mistake you made, I was checking if you did it right but when I checked it, you subtracted by total - women and I did not submit that and said that was wrong. I check the one where you edit the actually answer and it was correct both of them are total.
6 out of 10 originally were women
24 women leave and now 5 out of 8 are women
6/10 x = ( 5/8 * 8400 + 24)
x = original attendance = 10/6 (5/8*8400+24) = 8790
8790 - 8400 = 390 people left
