Recall that 1 mL = 1 cm3. suppose that the volume of water in a gradated cylinder is 107.5 mL. A specimen of quartz, tied to a piece of string, is immersed in the water. The new water level reads 186 mL. What is the volume, in cm3, of the piece of quartz?

Well the quartz has displaced  186-107.5 = 78.5ml

1ml=1cm cubed

So the volume of the quartz is 78.5cm^3
