In a certain rectangle, its length is 10 more than its width.  If the area of the rectangle is 264, then what are the dimensions of the rectangle?

Area = l x w        and   l = 10w

264 = 10w * w = 10w^2

w^2 = 26.4               (w = sqrt 26.4)            (l = 10 sqrt26.4)

w = 5.138      l = 51.38

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
width =>  x         length =>  x + 10
x (x + 10) = 264
x2 + 10x - 264 = 0
x = 12
width = 12         length = 22
12 * 22 = 264 wink
