If the roots of the quadratic equation 1/2*x^2 + 99x + c are x  = -99 - sqrt(7801) and -99 + sqrt(7801), then what is the value of c?

What is the value of c?

Hello Guest!

\(0.5x^2 + 99x + c=0\)

\(x = {-99 \pm \sqrt{99^2-4\cdot 0.5\cdot c} \over 2\cdot 0.5}\)

\(99^2-4\cdot 0.5\cdot c=7801\\c=-\dfrac{7801-99^2}{2}\)

\(c=1000\)

The value of c is 1000.
