what is the surface area of a solid that is 35 square inches that has been enlarged by a scale factor of 7

If the surface area is 35 square inches, then if it is scaled up by a factor of 7, then the surface area should go up the square of the scale or 7^2 X 35=1,715 square inches. At least, that is what I think.

Guest is correct.......

 

With the enlargement, each square inch is 7 * 7  = 49 times as great as it was before the enlargement.

 

So  .....

 

35 x 49  = 1715 in^2   = the enlarged surface area
