To convert from Standard Form to Scientific Notation: You move the decimal place either left or right to make the only whole number in the "ones" column.
For example:
12340000000 in Scientific Notation is 1.234 x 10^9 (^ meaning to the power of).
or
0000001234 in Scientific Notation is 1.234 x 10^-6 (^ meaning to the power of).
