Here is my math problem "A block of material has a volume of 2 m^3. It has a mass of 1x10^4 kg. Calculate the density of the material sample and express your results in g/cm^3 with appropriate scientific notation." I have done the math for the question and got an answer of 5g/cm^3. However I do not believe this is in scientific notation. I then made the answer 5x10^6g/cm^3. Is the previous answer correct? or is my new answer correct, please tell me why they are wrong or right.

2 m 3 = 2*100*100*100 = 2000000 = 2*10 6 cm 3

10 4 kg = 10 4*1000 g = 10 7 = 10000000 g

density = 10 7 / 2*10 6

density = 5 g/cm 3

Your first answer was correct.

You could say that density = 5*10 0 but since 10 0 is just 1 it is not needed.

density = 5 g/cm 3 is in scietntific notation just as is.
