A sequence with a_1 = 1 is defined by  the recurrence relation a_n = 2a_{n - 1}  for all natural numbers n. If a_{23} = 2^p, then what is p?

I think your sequence goes like this:

1, 2, 4, 8, 16..........23rd term =2a(23 - 1) =2a(22)

So, if a(23) = 2^p, then p = 22

So, the 23rd term =2^22
