What is the eighth term in the arithmetic sequence 2/3, 4/3, 2, ...?

you can notice that the arithmetic sequence increases by 2/3 each term.

 

in order to find the 8th term, we do 

 

2/3 + 7 * 2/3

 

= 2/3 + 14/3 

 

= 16/3

 

for future reference, the general formula for finding the nth term of an arithmetic sequence is: \(a_n = a_1 + (n-1)d\)
