Two girls are standing on opposite sides of a tower that is 85 meters tall. The girl on the left observes an angle of elevation of 32 degrees to the top of the tower, while the girl on the right observes an angle of elevation of 54 degrees. In each case, the distance, d, that a girl is from the tower is related by:

tan(Θ) = 85 / d

Where Θ is the angle of elevation, and 85 is the tower's height....so....

d = 85/tan(Θ)

And the total distance is given by

[85 / tan(32)] + [85 / tan(54)] = 197. 8 ft
