on my similar trianges activity 20 it says that RQ is 12 and KJ is 3. JL is x and QS is x + 6. Determine the value of x.
So...if I'm reading the layout of this properly, we have....
RQ / QS = KJ / JL
So
12 / (x + 6) = 3 / x cross-multiply
12x = 3(x + 6) simplify
12x = 3x + 18 subtract 3x from both sides
9x = 18 divide both sides by 9
x = 2
