Dumb question but I haven't had to deal with this stuff in 40+ years. If you have the sine or cosine of a number, how do you determine what the original number was?

Use this relationship to convert from one to the other: Sin^2 + Cos^2=1. So, if you have the Sin and you want to find the Cos, then:Cos^2=1 - Sin^2. Take the square root of both sides and you have:

Cos=sqrt(1 - Sin^2)
