Two similar pyramids have a surface area ratio of 121:169. If the slant height of the smaller pyramid is 33 cm, what is the slant height of the larger pyramid?
39cm?
I don't know why because I'm just guessing with ratios
I can infer surface area:height squared = 1:9
So i just do sqrt(169 times 9)
Max is correct.......each dimension of the larger pyramid has a ratio of [sqrt(169) / sqrt(121) = 13/11 to that of the smaller pyramid.
So......
11 : 13 = 33 : 39
So the slant height of the larger pyramid is 39 cm
