+124 So when writing a combination you would put for example 2C1 which is the same as saying 2 choose 1. Is there anything like that for permutations? In other words can you say 2 ______ 1 if you are given 2P1? Is there a word like choose for permutations?

I would simply say 2C1 and in the same vein I'd say 2P1 for a permutation. (I'd just use the letter name)
There are lots of different notations for these. When I am writing by hand I do it the way I just showed you, with thew first number as a superscript and the second as a subscript but if I was being lazy with typing i'd say 2C1
Sometimes the 2 are presented in brackets with the 2 above the 1. (That is just for combinations)
